A cinema rapidly going downhill unfortunately.
It's a very pretty building but there's not much beyond that. It charges extortionate prices on both tickets and drinks and does not show any films beyond what you would find in any multiplex.
Sadly markets itself as an alternative friendly cinema but is simply a place for the middle classes of Brum to watch middlebrow film without the riff raff getting in the way.
a cinema with a soul, friendly staff, great choice of films, delicious cake! highly recommend : )
Paid our first visit last week as one of a party of seven, aged from 5 to over 70 including one disabled child. We were all delighted with every aspect of the visit. No extra loud adverts, no popcorn, attentive and obliging staff who served hot drinks as required and a variety of delicious snacks. The film was a family favourite already [The Wizard of Oz] and thanks to the comforting and comfortable environment we had one of the nicest and most satisfying family outings for some time. We intend to go again as soon as possible and will endeavour to take as yet uninitiated friends with us at every opportunity. What a find!!
Where do I start. If I wanted to find something positive about our visit to The Electric I guess I could say that the decor and atmosphere is pleasant.
But unfortunatly that would be the only positive comment. We visited the cinema after pre-booking tickets for a party of 16 for a birthday bash.
We turned up 5 mins before the showing to find that there were seats for 8 and our 8 pre-booked seats had been sold to people on the door.
Staff were VERY unhelpful rude and confrontational, nobody wanted to take responsibility, and as no manager was on site and nobody wanted to know the projectionist was called down.
We were treated with contempt and told no refund. We were told that the web-site specifies all customers should be seated 15 and then 30 mins before the film begins (web-site does not sepcify this) and that seats are not reserved for pre-booked customers (well whats the point of pre-booking and the web-site lets you choose seating on booking).
DO NOT TOUCH WITH A BARGE POLE.
found this cinema by accident, absolute gem.will be back again and again and again
I like this cinema as its nice nad cosy and you can cuddle up to your loved one.
