The ViewBirmingham Review
Situated opposite Reflex, Lloyds Bar is one of the first watering holes on the central party strip that is Broad Street. The VenueIt’s a Wetherspoons on one of the busiest party strips in Birmingham so you should know what to expect. Yep, that's right, it's a patterned box filled with people revelling in drinking cheap booze. Dancefloor isn'tt much to write home about as it's a bit small and on the busier nights you may find yourself wondering why you didn't just go to a club. It has nice loos.
The PeopleLike all Wetherspoons pubs, it’s cheap and cheerful which kind of dictates what kind of crowd go here. Depending on what time of day and night you visit will depend on what kind of atmosphere you’ll get. Midweek at lunchtimes it plays host to the suited and booted grabbing a quick pint and bite before sloping back to the office.
Friday and Saturday nights, well that’s a different story altogether. The DJ sets up, the comfy leather sofas, speckled tables and chairs are pushed aside to make way for the makeshift dancefloor. If you add copious amounts of alcohol with women who are happy to do piggybacks with anyone, well sooner or later, it’s going to get messy.
The Food and DrinkValue for money is what you'll get here. It’s nothing fancy, just no nonsense burgers, fish and chips and pasta dishes. There are various meal deals including two meals for £7. Typical pub grub that serves its purposes in a no frills manner.
Lloyds Bar is probably the cheapest watering hole on Broad Street and, depending on your tolerance, you could be well on your way for under a tenner. There's a huge variety of spirits, wines, bottled and draught beers with a good selection of soft drinks too.
The Last WordA good place for a midweek, cheap and cheerful lunch. Start your night out here by all means by grabbing a few cheeky drinks that won’t break the bank. After that it’s a good time to move on.
