I am so glad I went to see this and wasn't put off by your review. I agree that the German accents were unnecessary and rather annoying, but with practically nothing else. I think the film made a good job of interpreting the beautifully written book, and I was absorbed and moved by it. Yes, it's not an all-action movie, but it certainly does have a story and plenty happens. I know others near me in the cinema shared my opinion from comments I heard and I would recommend it to others.

Film of the Week

The Conjuring (15)

Hugely enjoyable, genuinely scary horror flick that provides a welcome throwback to classic 1970s chillers, thanks to impeccable production design, a superb script, powerfully atmospheric direction, intense set-pieces and terrific performances.
