we went for xmas day 2011 and paid £32.00 each where do i start.
We have been going in there for many years but will defenitely not be going for xmas dinner ever again, im actually insulted to have had to pay £32.00 for frozen roast potatoes and parsnips, hard veg and what can only be described as smash not mash, youd think for that price they could have really used fresh food rather than what i could have bourght in iceland for £2.00 and it be better.
Also the managers of the pub (not sure of there names) well usually they dont utter a word to us and just look at us like something they have stepped in.. well they couldnt have been more helpful constantly coming up to us to see if the food was okay but it was all too obvious that they knew the standard for the price wasnt that good as there were not many people that actually cleared there plates.
Its really disappointing because usually the food is really good - the service on the other hand is a big fat 0 especially a certain bar man who ive never seen crack a smile and can actually be really rude when you dare to go up the bar and bother him for a drink
I can safely say ill never be eating xmas dinner in this pub again and advise other people not too either
The staff are rude and disinterested in customer complaints. Service is poor, customer service is none existent. The bar is full of unsavoury characters and people smoking at the rear of the pub can be intimidating.
the yenton? used to be a nice pub. now run by people who would rather pretend to look hard than be friendly to customers.
9 of us went to this Pub yesterday to celebrate a 21st birthday. My Nephew the birthday boy his girlfriend the same age, my Niece and her partner both 27 and my other Nephew aged 19 arrived first. They went into the bar and were confronted by the Manager Diane demanding ID. My youngest nephews ID was in his Moms bag and we were on our way. ID was produced by one of the others and they only wanted to buy a Coke while they were waiting but were refused. The left the bar and went into the Restaurant to wait of us. They were followed by the Manager who proceeded to point them out to all the other staff. They did not approach the bar but sat waiting at a table but were constantly pointed at by the staff. When the rest of our party arrived My sister who is in her 50's spoke to this Diane asking why there was a problem. She insisted that drinks even a Coke could only be bought if accompanied by an adult (which they all were) and again demanded ID from anyone of our party who would be drinking. This woman has no concept of customer service, she could quite easily have turned things around by being polite but preferred to be belligerent. My Nephew decided that he would not be comfortable to remain there and so we left. As we were leaving Diane was talking about us to the barman and as my sister passed him he said in a load voice "stupid bitch"Myself and one of her daughters heard this and I asked him if that was what he had said and he walked off. We went to another pub were we were made welcome and spent the best part of £300. We are all going to take this further and I am going to write to the Chairman of the Board to ask if this is what they consider good customer service. Needless to say we will not be going any where near this pub again and will actively encourage all friends and family to do likewise.
I arrived here for my Christmas meal which cost 29.99 each, what can I say was very disappointed, was advertised on the internet that I would receive a welcoming drink of Bucks Fizz, which I never recieved, also when I eventually got to a seat for 2 people, me an my daughter, the cutlery came out absolutely disgusting. Was told that the dishwasher hadnt washed them properly?. On my starter I had a cold mushroom, had to spit it out. The main meal had no salt an pepper on table also mash potato and the stuffing was missing, the waitresses kept asking my name for the courses, was also said on the internet advertisement you get chocolates after pudding did not recieve them either, to be honest would not recommend this as a place to eat, needs trading standards to go in and check it out. I phoned up to complain and spoke to a person called Diane who said she was the manager, but was of no help at all, admitted there was some cold mushrooms and disagreed with me about salt and pepper not put out, also disagreed with welcoming drink saying it was on a table that I clearly did not see, very disappointed as this was Christmas Day meal! Please do not waste your money.
My friend and I ate at the Yenton in Erdington and it was all very good. Unfortunately that was last year, and oh dear, things have slid badly since then. Half soaked, unhelpful and positively rude staff and food that no longer represents value for money, was our lot this time around.
They have trained their waitress to ask "Was your meal all right?" but not on how to remedy a complaint when the expected "Yes, thank you, it was lovely" is not received.
An option with the main meal is to "swap" the sizzling skillet full of chips for a healthy salad. They must think we are all on a crash diet, because the salad was minuscule. In fact the whole BBQ chicken melt and salad looked lonely, taking up less than half of the area of a less than impressively sized plate.
Apparently that is what is always served when salad is requested at the Yenton. If that is the case, it is no surprise that every other meal served from that kitchen was a sizzler. Nobody would order the salad twice.
The insolent waitress simply shrugged her shoulders and turned her back on my complaint.
Customer service, what customer service?
This is what happens when management does not set the standard for staff to follow.
There is no option to contact Sizzling Pubs corporate website, so we are left putting our experiences on to review sites.
The Yenton is a good pub gone bad.
I came to this restaurant expecting to enjoy a meal with my family for my Brothers Birthday, unfortunately I did not receive the service I expected.
Don't get me wrong, I'm no sob, even I was shocked by the poor, unprofessional attitude of the staff.
I took my meal over to the bar to ask them if they could cook my meat a bit more, as I asked for a well-done stake rather than rare! I wouldn't have complained but there's a distinct difference between the two.
When I asked to see the manager, the rude barman advised me there was no manager on duty today.
Surely there should be a manager or supervisor on duty at all times? The barman showed no interest in trying to help me.
So I wanted head offices number to make a direct complaint, however he told me he could not give me the number for head office, apparently only the manager could do that.
But the manager wasn't there. By this point my food wasn't just disgusting but it'd also gone cold, and my brothers celebrations had gone on without me whilst I wasted my time talking to this pinhead.
I will not be visiting here again. Ever.
A very bland plastic managed pub that doesn’t even have the class of a JDW or an Ember Inn. Last night the Cask Ale selection was pitiful. It appears from the pumps they have Banks’s Bitter, Green King IPA and Pedigree. Hardly an inspiring selection. Last night only a very mediocre pint of Banks’s was available (an occasional pipe clean would improve it!). Also they stop serving coffee at 9pm. What’s that about…if the Moca Choca Foca Fartte Latte machine “has to be switched off at 9” – get a kettle! Some people like a warm drink on a cold January night. Overall not very impressed!
